Let’s Learn About Pancreatic Cancer

Let’s Win and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health’s Nuestras Voces Adelante Network program hosted their first webinar in Spanish, to educate people about pancreatic cancer.

The webinar was held on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, and featured oncologist Dr. Ignacio Garrido-Laguna discussing risk factors, symptoms, and treatments and clinical trials for pancreatic cancer. The moderator was Juan Pellerano-Rendon, who lost his mother to this disease.

Pancreatic cancer is notorious as a cancer that is diagnosed late and is difficult to treat. Because of this it has a five-year survival rate of about 13%. As diseases of the pancreas, diabetes and pancreatic cancer have a unique relationship, and individuals with diabetes are at an increased risk of developing this cancer, among different types of cancer.
