Genetic Testing and Molecular Profiling Can Guide Treatment
Genetic testing and molecular profiling play important roles in guiding treatment.
Scientists and physicians are continually trying to find better treatments to increase survival. Research has shown that some types of treatment work better in people with certain inherited genetic mutations or genetic changes in their tumor. Because of this, it has become extremely important for ALL patients to get genetic testing and molecular profiling. In fact, genetic testing is standard of care for all pancreatic cancer patients.
Let’s Win and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health’s Nuestras Voces program held a webinar on November 19, 2024, to explain with both types of testing are so important to pancreatic cancer patients. The webinar featured gastroenterologist Dr. Bryson Katona, genetic counselor Joanna Mercado, and patient advocate Chris Joseph discussing both types of testing and how the results impact treatment for pancreatic cancer. The moderator was Juan Pellerano-Rendon, who lost his mother to this disease.
