Diagnosed with Zero Symptoms

- Stage I diagnosis with no symptoms
- Participating in a clinical trial
I was diagnosed with stage I pancreatic adenocarcinoma in September 2024.
I had a CT scan and a PET scan. I had zero symptoms, and I am therefore so grateful that we discovered it early.
In Treatment
Once I received the diagnosis, I began treatment at Hospital Clinico near my home in Valencia, Spain. The tumor was on the tail of my pancreas and was found to be resectable. I had a distal pancreatectomy, and my spleen was also removed. The surgery was successful and my spleen was completely clean.
My doctor introduced me to a clinical trial through INCLIVA. I had adjuvant chemotherapy with six cycles of gemcitabine. Luckily for me I had no side effects except for some fatigue in the two days following treatment.
My follow-up tests have been good so far—the blood tests and CT scan did not show anything that would indicate tumor activity. I have been scheduled for more tests at the end of September.
Getting On with My Life
My life is still good, although with treatment it is a work in progress. Aside from the weekly cycles of chemo with a 15-day break between them, things are almost normal. For those who are in a similar position to me, I wish you the same luck that I had with my surgery and treatment.
