Genetically Modified Virus Helps Fight Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

A virus genetically modified to recognize and attack tumor cells was demonstrated. safe and effective in fighting advanced pancreatic cancer, according to a study led by the Spanish Institutes of Biomedical Research of Bellvitge (Idibell) and the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).

It is about the results from a phase 1 clinical trial, which are published in the journal “Journal of ImmunoTherapy of Cancer”, and which show that the administration of this virus, called VCN-01, “is feasible and a possible new tool”in the treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer, explains Idibell in a statement this Wednesday.
