Statins and pancreatic cancer risk in patients with chronic pancreatitis: A Danish nationwide population-based cohort study

Statins are widely used prescription drugs that may have anti-cancer properties. In the present nationwide population-based cohort study of 8,311 chronic pancreatitis patients, exposure to statins was not associated with an increased or decreased risk of pancreatic cancer. This finding that was robust to several sensitivity analysis and underlines that prevention of pancreatic cancer in patients with chronic pancreatitis, a high-risk group, is still a major challenge.
